The rainbow itself is a natural phenomenon that is rarely encountered in life, yet has always been around us in many forms, be it in human descriptions of rainbows, or in rainbow objects and commodities. This book takes a semiotic and taxonomic approach to the many forms of the rainbow as a symbol, reflecting the ways in which humans have given meaning to natural things and created sign and symbols to communicate and transmit energy.
